The City of Euharlee Zoning Department was appointed by the City Council and the City Manager to maintain and enforce all of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance. Since the creation of the Department, the Zoning Ordinance has undergone two significant revisions and one readoption in July, 2005.

The Zoning Department is responsible for keeping abreast of the ever-changing regulations promulgated by the Regulatory Agencies and incorporating these changes into the City’s Codified Ordinances.

Other Ordinances that the Zoning Department is responsible for updating and enforcing are:

• Subdivisions and Land Development Ordinance
• Site Plan Review and Approval Ordinance
• City of Euharlee Fence Ordinance
• Nuisance Ordinance
• Stormwater and Litter Control Ordinances
• Unfit Housing Ordinance
• International Property Maintenance Code
• Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance
• Methamphetamine Ordinance
• Local Coordinator for the Georgia Meth Watch Program sponsored by the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse.

In April, 2006, the City of Euharlee will adopt the following ordinances as required by the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District. The Zoning Department, with the assistance of the City’s Engineers and Attorneys, is responsible for preparing the ordinances for adoption by the City Council and enforcing them after approval. These ordinances include:

• Illegal Discharge/Illegal Connection Ordinance
• Conservation Subdivision / Open Space Development Ordinance
• Flood Plain Management / Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance
• Stream Buffer Protection Ordinance
• Litter Control Ordinance (previously adopted)

Other Zoning Department responsibilities include:

• Issuing Local Land Disturbance Permits
• Reviewing (with the assistance of the City Engineers and City Attorneys) Applications for Preliminary and Final Plats, and Site Plans for Commercial Developments.
• Processing applications for amending the Zoning Map, making text changes to the ordinances, and requests for variances to the Zoning Ordinance.
• Coordinating Euharlee’s Comprehensive Plan with Bartow County.
